Laundry Lessons

Do your children help out with the laundry? Ours do. Here's a video from a couple of years ago, helping out while we sing. https://youtu.be/jYgVMvGvpmA

Are you happy when you're helping? How do we make a boring chore like laundry more fun?

Here's a video that shows you how we turned taking laundry off the clothesline into a lesson about making patterns and counting.

Now that our laundry is all dry, we can sort it by person. Hey, I know! Let's play a laundry math game!

We have a big pile of clean laundry, and a basket for each person. You earn a point for every piece of laundry that you sort! That's an easy way to play.

Now let's make it harder.
Our 5 year old came up with these rules, and oh my it became tricky!

Everyone's age is how many points we get when we toss one item of clothing into their basket. Let's add it up as we go and see who gets the most points the fastest!

Mixing laundry and math can be lots of fun. What games can you come up with?

Sometimes we mix a language lesson in with our laundry, too. Here's a song that we sing. In English, it means: "Today we do our laundry" but in French it sounds really neat. Here's a link to the video so you can hear it, too.  https://youtu.be/BxQ78ZlK3hw

And other times we just like to sing as we roll or fold our laundry. We have a song for that, too. Check it out: https://youtu.be/Ij3gowES0Go

Sometimes we like to fold our laundry in tricky ways. Here's what we call our Gravity Fold: https://youtu.be/Vvs4ibkH6t4

Oh, and it's always more fun to do laundry when you're wearing a goofy costume. We hope you can find a way to make laundry fun. Tell us about your tips, too!
