Parks of Florida's Space Coast: West Melbourne Community Park
We visited an community park in West Melbourne, Florida, and it was lots of fun.
There's a splash pad, skate park, playing fields, and playgrounds for all ages and abilities.
Built with accessibility in mind, there are even wheelchair friendly outdoor soccer courts with rubberized mats instead of grass.
This park is a hub for community activities. There are bathrooms, water fountains, even a bakery and ice cream parlor right by the playground.
The playground is designed with agility in mind. With a solid rubber substrate under the equipment, it's wheelchair friendly.
Great, and safe, challenges greeted us at every turn, like this rope ladder that was low to the ground.
Our toddler loved the seesaw.
This image of the seesaw shows that there are adaptive swings at the playground, too.
We also loved the puppy- themed fire engine, complete with a fire pole to slide down.
There was an island themed play fort, too! This photo shows us the great ramps for kids to run and wheel on.
The toddler playground even had a short tube that our toddler could easily crawl through without getting scared. Here's a picture of her in it, it's about a meter long with window holes.
Their favorite part of the playground was the little zipline swing, which I didn't take a photo of. It was a lot of fun, but short enough that they could set their feet down on the ground if they wanted to stop.
