As you drive into the parking lot, you will notice the playground on your right hand side. There is a convenient path from the parking lot through the center of the playground. The substrate for the playground is wood chips. There are two play structures, two sets of swings, and a teeter totter. Both of the structures are designed for all ages. Bench seating around this playground is fairly limited and off the path.
When we first arrived at the park, our daughter made a beeline for the teeter totter. I joined her, and we counted as we bounced. I mentioned that the teeter totter was for two people, but she thought three or four might be able to ride. I asked her how they would fit. She pointed out that if people were really daring, they could stand in the middle and try surfing while we bounce back and forth!
The play structure to the right of the path as you walk from the parking lot has a lot to offer when it comes to climbing, and a music theme.
There are pictures of music notes, bells to bang, and talk tubes. The talk tubes were our favorite. We could have a conversation even though we were on opposite sides of the play structure.
The underside of this structure also featured a window where our child pretended that she was selling ice cream. There were also fun maze boards for her to trace with her fingers. One of the mazes even had a space theme!
As we are about to leave the park, I always sing the song from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood:
"It's almost time to go, so choose one last thing to do!" Then I watch as she picks and plays. As she finishes up, I sing "That was fun, but now it's done!" and we head to the car. For her one last thing to do, she chose the belt swings. She feels like a big girl whenever she gets herself moving on these swings! She's still not great at pumping, but she sure loves to try.
This entry focuses on the playground at Alden Bridge Park. There are public restrooms at this park. The public restroom facilities are across the parking lot, within two hundred feet of the playground.

Next she explored the play structure to the left of the central path. It featured monkey bars for tall children or adults, a twisty slide, a tic-tac-toe board, and stairs.
The underside of these play structures did not disappoint. Here's a picture of our daughter enjoying a small set of plastic monkey bars that were just her height. It was fun for her to find monkey bars that weren't intimidating. She was able to reach all of them while standing and was able to swing from one to the next while bending her knees. I wouldn't have noticed these monkey bars if she hadn't found them first!
