Parks of The Woodlands: Bear Branch Park

Bear Branch Park is located in The Woodlands Township, Texas. This park is massive. It takes up several acres on both sides of Research Forest Drive. On one side of the road you'll find the ball fields. On the other you'll find a community center, updated pool, dog park, skate park, and playground. Oh, and don't forget the tennis courts, hockey practice field, and hiking trails. Bear Branch Park has something for everyone. Check out the facility's official website here: https://thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Bear-Branch-Park-33

Here is a photo of our girl running off to play on the playground.
This playground has quickly become one of our favorites. The substrate for the playground is rubberized mat. There are ramps and other accessible features to this park that makes it appealing for children of all abilities. While most of the park is either concrete or rubberized mat, there is a small sensory play area for sand. There is a long row of swings that includes belt swings, bucket swings, and molded plastic full-size adult swings with back and arm rests.

If you visit this park during morning and early afternoon hours, there are an abundance of preschoolers accompanied by their parents. In the afternoons you will find junior high school and high school students playing here, too - especially at the skate park. This is the most consistently popular park that we have so far encountered here in The Woodlands. When we want to interact with other little kids and make friends, this is the place to be.

This park has conveniently located restrooms and water fountains. There are ample places for people to sit while supervising children, including benches, picnic tables, and a covered picnic area that one can reserve for events and parties.

When we visited Bear Branch Park today, we brought along our hand lens and magnifying glass. We found bugs, investigated lichen, and marveled at the tiny size of little white Holly flowers (Ilex vomitoria).
