Parks of The Woodlands: Forestgate Park
Forestgate Park is a large community park in the Village of Indian Springs, within the township of The Woodlands, TX. This park features a pool, basketball courts, picnic tables, a covered picnic pavilion, restrooms, playgrounds, and a "wheel-friendly area" (small skate park).
We visited this playground in March, when the weather was a bit chilly. But the park was still lots of fun. My kids pretended this part of the playground was The Magic School Bus! Ms Frizzle took them out for a drive through the solar system.
"Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. An asteroid belt, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune! These are the planets in our solar system."
Here's the song that we made up last year. We like to sing it when we talk about the solar system:
Check out these great spinning pictures! They tell us all about different plants and animals.
Our girls enjoy playing with the "big kid" belt swings.
Want to practice scrambling up a mountainside? This playground will prepare you!
Do you have a baseball fan? The tic-tac-toe board here is in the shape of bats and balls.
Rapunzel, fair Rapunzel, let down your long hair! They pretended this was a tower where they were trapped.
We liked the tactile nature of this maze. She was able to fit her finger into the grooves and trace it around until she reached the desired end.
She found dinosaur bones! The underside of this playground has some fun and unexpected treasures for them to find.
There is a ladder that goes nowhere. It is confusing. It is too far for children to reach anything from the top of the ladder. It is also too far away from everything else for this adult. But, hey, ladders are fun. If you want a ladder that leads to no specific destination, this ladder is for you.
This swirly was far more fun. It actually went somewhere.
We love Forestgate Park! We look forward to visiting again when the weather is warm.
