Parks of The Woodlands: Lakeside Park

Lakeside Park is a large community park in the Village of Alden Bridge. This park is right next door to Buckalew Elementary School. There is a pool, playground, ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, skate park, gazebos that make great outdoor classrooms, and access to the Bear Branch Reservoir, which is a beautiful place to fish.

Let's start with pictures of the reservoir. While most ponds and lakes in The Woodlands are for catch and release fishing only, the township permits you to keep whatever you catch at the Bear Branch Reservoir. Since this place is walking distance from our home, it has become a favorite place for the kids to practice casting.

Here is a picture of our older girl helping Daddy pick out lures. They are setting up their chairs on a little boat ramp. There are often people navigating these waters in kayaks and small fishing boats. The water here is shallow and calm. The shoreline is dotted with Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum), Sweet Gum (Liquidambar styraciflua), Water Oak (Quercus nigra) and Slash Pine (Pinus elliottii) trees.
Next let's see some photos of the playground. There are two large playground structures, next to each other at this park. One is designed for younger kids in mind, and has a dinosaur theme. The other is an advanced obstacle course that is even fun fun adults. The substrate for both of the playgrounds is wood chips.

With climbing walls and variants on monkey bars abound at this super fun obstacle course.

We were captivated by the visual appeal of stained glass on a playground structure, with a forest of trees surrounding us.

Hop, hop, hippity hop! Let's count by 10's! 10, 20, 30, 40!

And what about that playground for little kids that's off to the left of that obstacle course? There's tons of fun sensory play!
Do you like looking at the world through a rose colored lens? Here's a fun little colored window.

Color Mixing!
Why, Hello friendly dino! This is a staircase leading up to the slide at the small playground. There is a fun little hiding spot under him.

This park has a bouncing T-rex that is big enough to handle an adult, or two children. In the background of this photo, you can see some of the cement ramps at the skate park.

We love visiting Lakeside Park! I bet others will have a lot of fun there, too!
