Seed to seed - see what you get!

We planted the seeds from a rotting tomato just before a little frosty weather came to Florida in December. They started growing and they didn't stop!

Here's the progression of our plants. 

They're fruiting now! Delightful green tomatoes fill our big, scraggly tomato plants.

Planting seeds from your kitchen scrap bin doesn't always work out. You never quite know what you will get. That's because you have no idea what the parent plants really looked like to make that fruit and those seeds.

If you have the space to grow the unknown, it can be a lot of fun to see how they grow, and if they make good fruit. In the process, you can learn a lot about the life cycle of a plant.
