Peter Rabbit Came Alive!
The children's stories by Beatrix Potter have been my favorite since I was a young child. Beatrix was a skilled botanical illustrator and became a well educated scientist in her own right before she began writing the children's stories. I have always felt a deep attachment to her work and her life story, and I have always had tidbits of her scattered throughout our home.
Over Spring Break this year, my children developed their love for these stories as well, thanks to the Peter Rabbit series on Nickelodeon. When they realized that our stories had the same cast of characters as the children's cartoon, they became so excited, and our 8 year old started reading the books to her sisters.
Here is how I set up the tops of bookshelves in our home library this morning. I found a snuggly friend from our stuffed animal collection and paired each of them with a book.
The books are an advanced reading level (Accelerated Reader lists each book somewhere between reading level 4-5). You may want to read the books to them long before they can pick them up and read them independently.
Here is the Nick Jr. Page devoted to Peter Rabbit shows and games.
